PLATE BENDING

Longero has a range of press brakes from 90 to 400 tons and from 8’ to 16’ 9″  long.  Thickness of materials bent range from 16ga up to 2” thick. Typical materials include carbon steels (A-36, AR400, A516gr70, A572, etc.) stainless steels (304SS, 316SS) and aluminum as well as other more exotic materials. When bending aluminum, care should be taken to choose the correct grade and temper which will accommodate the type of bend desired.

The radii desired are also an important consideration when detailing bent materials. With thin materials the bend radii achieved can be as small as .0625”. When step braking thicker materials, very large radii can be achieved.  Recommended bottom die openings are normally 8x the thickness of the material being bent. Typical radii achieved on a typical air bend (non bottoming bend) are .156” x the bottom die opening. Longero has bottom openings from .500” to 14”.

There are a myriad of projects which require bent plates.  Please contact one of our Project Managers to discuss your requirements.  Tangent material is sometimes required to complete the bend on certain parts.  It should be specified who will remove the tangent material.  If beveling or other weld preparation is required, that too should be discussed in the quoting stage of the project.   Finally, if parts are to be fit or tacked prior to delivery, that too should be agreed upon prior to placing an order.  Tolerances for parts on the brakes are usually +/- .0625” and 1 degree.  Step broke cylinders are usually held to 1% of roundness.

Typical projects include:

  • Pour Stops
  • Lintels
  • Cones
  • Stair Pans
  • Square to Rounds
  • Rectangular to Rounds
  • Eccentric Cones
  • Platforms
  • Conveyors
  • Buckets
  • Liners
  • Architectural Accents
  • Bracket Plates
  • Pipe Clamps
  • Pipe Shoes
